Tanzania’s Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to take over the country’s leadership!!!

First Female President

As the first female president following the demise of President John Magufuli.

According to the Tanzanian Constitution; “Where the office of President becomes vacant by reason of death, then the Vice-President shall be sworn in and become the President for the unexpired period of the term of five years.”

Born in the semi-autonomous archipelago of Zanzibar, Hassan studied economics in Britain, worked for the UN’s World Food Programme and then held various government posts prior to becoming Tanzania’s first female vice president in 2015.

This is a great feat for Samia and for African women as a whole 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

We wish her the best on her new appointment, and celebrate all the powerful women taking up leadership positions in various sectors within their respective countries and communities
